Your first $100 is the hardest. Not because affiliate marketing is hard, but because it's the only stretch where you have no evidence it works. Once you have the first $100, you have proof — and proof unlocks everything.
This is the narrowest possible path. Not the optimal long-term strategy — the fastest path to evidence.
The math of $100
Sample: 5% commission on a $40 average product = $2 per sale. $100 = 50 sales. Or: 30% recurring on a $25/mo tool = $7.50/mo per referral. 14 referrals = $100/mo. The numbers are very reachable.
Pick ONE product, ONE channel
Not three. One. The product should be something you already recommend in real life. The channel should be one you already use. Familiarity removes the biggest blockers.
Publish 3 specific content pieces
Roundup ('5 best X for Y'), an honest comparison ('A vs. B'), and a personal story ('How [product] helped me with [problem]'). These three formats account for ~80% of first affiliate sales.
Trigger traffic on purpose
Pin each piece 3 times in week one. Share in 1 niche group. Add to your email signature. Mention in one Instagram story. Don't wait for traffic to find you.
Realistic first-$100 timeline
- Day 1–3Pick product, apply to program
- Day 4–10Create 3 content pieces
- Day 11–20Distribute, track
- Day 21–60Double down, hit $100
Track and double down
Which of your three got clicks? Make two more like it. Which got zero? Don't make more. After 2 cycles you'll likely cross $100.
